Red eye with pain for almost 1 week

I got red on my right eye starting from last Monday (it's Monday afternoon now in my current time) and went to doctor on Tuesday night and given 2 eye drops (1 contains alcohol that need to be used each 2 hours and 1 other that need to be keep refrigerated).

I admit that I don't use the 2 hours eye drop regulary since i didn't bring to office during my workhour.

Now after almost 1 week, my eye is still red and even on Sunday i couldn't even open my eye because of deep pain, though it's better today. I observed that my pain mostly only occur starting from midnight 2/3 am to 10am in the morning.

Previously before I went to the doctor, my eye only got red towards the nose, while now both sides.

What is my disease? The doctor just said it is an infection without telling the disease.

The ophthalmologist is a MD physician  college plus medical school plus residency and often fellowship. Optometrist is non-physician healthcare provider college plus optometry school.  Eye MD ophthalmologist would be better.

You will have to ask "the doctor"   If "the doctor" is not an ophthalmologist or optometrist then I would try and see one of them because they specialize in the eye.

Thanks! Actually what is the different of those two? I think ophthalmologist is more suit to my case?
