Reduced vision in one eye at night

Reduced vision in one eye at night

Over the past couple of months, from time to time, when I get up quickly from bed at night, the vision in one eye is reduced dramatically -- everything in that eye is darker.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Yes, it needs checked out, especially if you are "older". It can represent problems in the eye, heart, blood vessels. Start by seeing an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Find one near you at www.aao.org  Then have a complete Physical with an internist or GP.

Thank you for your response.  I am 43, I'm not sure if that is "older."  I have one follow-up question.  As I was reading through posts (they are quite interesting) one in particular caught my eye:  "tilted world."  The exact thing happened to me last week while I was reading.  Suddenly my vision tilted to the side for a few seconds.  I felt a bit strange and nauseous for less than a minute after that.  Then I was ok.  I chalked it up to vertigo or something.

My question is whether the two could be related?  I ask because I am going to the doctor tomorrow, but he usually only has a few minutes, so I don't want to ask too many questions.  It seems like he shoos me out faster when I have more than one problem.

Thank you for your time.

Yes it could be related. Tilted equals cyclotorsional misalignment of the eye.

You should be seeing a MD ophthalmologist Eye MD for this problem not a Non-MD, non-physician optometrist.

If an optom or a ophthalmologist doesn't have time to answer a few simple questions fire him/her and look for a better communicating doctor.
