Removal of conjuctival nevus

by Mikasmum, Jun 21, 2009 04:48AM
I have a conjunctival nevus i want removed. It's not on my cornea it does not go down into my sclera. I can move it around with my finger. It makes me look like i have a case of strabismus (cross eyed?) so I want it removed. My questions are
1) What kind of scarring can I expect, is the conjunctiva prone to really bad scarring?
2) what are the chances of recurrance and is there anything I can do to reduce them?
3) How risky is this surgery interms of doing more harm than good?

1. Depends on size, shape location and depth
2. high chance you will for more,    protect your eye from sunlight (hat sunglasses)
3. Unless the spot is worrisome in appearance its not likely you will get any help fromyour insurance company as the removal would be cosmetic. Health care costs are on everyone's mind in every country. You can't bankrupt the systems taking little zits and blemishes off skin and outer eye UNLESS you want to pony up all the costs.

Calculus changes if it is increasing in size, shape or looks malignant.
