Remove Rezoom lens

Remove Rezoom lens

I have had my Rezoom lens implants for almost 2 years. I cannot drive safely at night due to the huge halos and glare. I cannot enjoy a movie or the theater. A department store with flourescent lights makes me crazy. I need glasses for reading and glasses for the computer. I am a relatively patient and tolerant person, but finally asked my opthomalogist if he could remove these lenses and he said he could. He acted like it was no big deal, even though he told me that my case is "rare" in his practice. He has been a doctor for 27 years, a professor at a nearby medical school and has been awarded Best Dr in America. I have faith in him, but am still hesitant. Should I get a second opinion before having these lenses removed and replaced with a monofocal lens? Are there any questions I should ask. He of course, told me there is always a risk in any surgery. He also said that my insurance (Medicare and BC/BS should cover the majority of the cost. Does that sound right? I paid almost $6000 to have them put in!

I would have your doctor remove it.  The Rezoom is more difficult to cut than some of the other lenses.  Yes, Medicare will pay for it and your secondary should cover all costs except the deductible.  It should coded as a mechinical complication of ocular prosthesis.
