Research meibomian gland dysfunction

There is an obvious neglect in research for meibomian gland dysfunction.  I have written to the top eye institutes about this concern.  I also would like to know where is the best place to donate for research in this area.  I know that researchers have to apply for grants, but where is the foundation that is most likely accessed for research on MGD.  Thank you so much

In a world peopled with the blind and the almost blind, and a finite limit on the monies that can be spent on medical research does it seem so unusual that a disease that does not blind, does not disfigure and that can in 98% of cases be controled with  lid hygeine, topical and/or oral antibiotics and medicated lids scrubs and with a limited commercial market that this is not a burning issue at the top of researchers and pharmaceutical companies priorities?
