Results of Cataract Surgery on Scleral Buckled Eye

Had cataract surgery 3 wks ago on my left eye which has a scleral buckle on it.  The buckle has been on for 20 yrs. with no problem other than I have much poorer vision in it than the other eye.  Glasses have balanced the problem over the years but never near a good correction,  I'm 65 and went to an eye center where the Opthalmolgist said after cataract implant lens surgery I would most likely be able to read a book without glasses. I was estatic, at last I can get rid of these glasses and see correctly.

The result now is that I have double vision.  He says the stigmatism in the eye has more than doubled and just give the eye time to heal and it will get better.  After 3 wks of stomach churning imbalance he has no answer except that the scleral buckle might be causing  the problem.  He says I have better vision now than before surgery.  How can this be helped?  Has any eye doctor encountered the same situation?  Need some help.

Yes your problem is not unusual. There are quite a few posts about double vision after RD scleral buckle.  I would ask the surgeon to refer you to a strabismus eye MD in the next several weeks. (often called a pediatric ophthalmologist)
