Retinal Nerve Damage

Hello Sir,

My father consumer alcohol over past few days before 5th of august this month, and that alcohol contains huge amount of methanol. As a result he got breathing problem in 5th of august and admitted to hospital due methanol poisoning which created acidosis or something like that. He had to stay for few days over there. During that time he went through ccu, icu and hdu.
But the thing is in 6th of august he lost as vision as he couldn't see anything and after hemodylysis he got his light sensing capability back. Again today 9th of august he can not see or feel even light.
For the time being, he is instructed to have Cynomin H(injection) doses. 10 doses in a month.
Can you please tell me whats happening ? Doctors telling that this is something relating to retinal nerve damage which can lead to utter blindness.

Your local doctors can consult with Indian doctors and begin treatment (they likely already have) and arrange a transfer if the Indian doctors think they can help

Sir,

He cannot feel the light even. We live in Bangladesh and want to go India for treatment. Is it a case where one day or two days delay can be the big issue ?

This points out the danger of drinking non-commercial alcohol products. In the USA this is called "moon-shine".  Methanol is metabolized to formaldehyde and that is toxic to the optic nerve. So it kills the optic nerve. Your father needs to be seen in the hospital by an ophthalmologist as soon as possible. It is likely there will be permanent damage and some possibility most or all of the vision could be lost.
