Retinal detachment after cataract surgery

Retinal detachment after cataract surgery

What are the risks of retinal detachment for a person with a -13D correction?  Is it true that after cataract surgery, the risks are five times what they are normally?  If that is true, how long does this increased risk last after the operation?

I am a 65-year-old female.  I have floaters (I have had them for years), so I assume there has already been vitreous detachment, but if so, I don't know how much.

In any case, if it is in fact true in my case that there would be an increased risk after cataract surgery, how long does that increased risk last (e.g. a month, a year, forever)?

The higher risk for RD is males under 52 without a posterior vitreous detachment.  You probably already have had a posterior vitreous detachment since you have floaters.  I do not recall a retinal detachment in a high myope female.  I have seen this in many males.
