Retinal detachment post-op floaters

by ricardo1984, Sep 24, 2009 06:34PM
Hello. It's been 2 weeks now since I had surgery to repair retinal detachment caused by a enormous tear. Doctor said my case was pretty difficult and put silicone oil to keep the retina in place. So far so good, but today I've noticed I can still see all those black dots floating around my vision. They are not like regular floaters, but more like fixed opaque spots that I see whenever I blink. The thing is, I can't tell if they are new floaters or the very same floaters I had before surgery and can see now as my vision progresses.

Is this a sign my retina may be detaching again? Thanks in advance.

You need to talk things over with your retinal surgeon.  It's not my place and would be irresponsible for me to offer you advise since I did not do your surgery.  Sometines the floaters are normal in a situation like this and to be expected and other times it can be sign of a new problem - less likely.  Call your doctor.
