Retinal hole with macular endema

Today I was diagnosed with a eye problem. Im not sure what to expect. I was told I will eventually lose sight in the affected eye. How long will this take? Is it gradual? Im enemployed with no insurance and kinda scared. If anyone has had this problem and can tell me what to expect, I would appreciate it if you could take a couple of minutes and help me through this. I live in Colorado and am trying to be seen at a clinic or something, but so far no luck. Tomorrow will be better!  Thank You!

You may be able to get financial assistance through the Prevention of Blindness or Knights Templar or even through your county welfare department.  Knights Templar has a program that will pay for the surgery if you meet certain requirements.

Dear tommay,

I really would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD specializing in retina.  Try a teaching or county hospital and ask for a cash price.  No one can determine how long visual loss occurs and if edema is present, treatment may be indicated now.

My main questions are, How long can I put this off before its to late to fix?  What can I expect to happen if I do nothing? What causes this problem? I had lasik done over 10 years ago and the DR. said  that may be the cause. Has anyone else out there had this problem? If so I would like to know what to expect. The cost, the recovery, etc. Thanks to everyone!
