Retinal tear reoccurrance

Retinal tear reoccurrance

I had laser surgery for a large retinal tear 10 days ago, along with a small detachment. I also had laser surgery for several lattace areas in the same eye. I have been told by the treating physician that I can have recurrent tears in the same eye.  I was told by another physician in a second opinion that once you had a tear in one eye, you do not have a chance of reoccurance in that eye, however the likelihood of the other eye having a tear if lattice is present is good.
Can you please confirm who is correct.  Thank you.
