My son has a power -3 in his left eye (-3.5 in the right)... And the doctors had told us that he has weak spots in the retina of his left eye. He has been told to have a laser photo coagulation treatment for the same.. The doctor says that this may create a huge problem if not properly treated... No symptoms like Flashes, floaters and visual field defect or any blurriness ... is observed for now. Is the surgery crucial ?? ... Any advice would be highly appreciated.....
I would suggest an independent second opinion from a retina specialist ophthalmologist not in the group that is making the recommendation now. There is often disagreement among retina specialists about which weak spots and small holes need treatment.
