Agree with above.  RP does not mean you will go blind.  A person with RP can lead a very normal life.  It will likely limit some of the things that you can do at some point in life but people can overcome many great obstacles in life.  Vitamin therepy is usually recommended and your retinal specialist can go over that with you.  You should also try to find out if you have a strongly inherited form so that you could consider genetic counseling someday if you want to have children.  God bless you and maintain a positive outlook.

Your question has been answered multiple times on this forum.
The anser is: There is NO cure for RP. RP is an umbrella term and encompasses many different types of retinal degenerative conditions. On the bright side many people w/RP have usable vision for a good portion of their lives. Also, technology is vastly improving and gene therapy is being tried for some types of RP. Glasses/contacts may help to maximize current vision, just like in the general population, however, they will not cure or prevent further vision loss due to RP. Talk to your retinal specialist for more info. and visit www.blindness.org.

Dear uzair20,

If you have a prescription of the eye, glasses or contact lenses may be helpful.  There is no cure; however, vitamin A/beta-carotene, DHA [docosahexaenoic acid], diamox for patients with swelling of their macula or area of central vision, and possibly anti-inflammatory agents.  I would recommend that you seek the care of a retinal specialist to obtain the most recent up to date information about potential beneficial and harmful treatments.

That vision description is indeed very low. See a retinologist for the best evaluation of her prognosis/plan of care. You could even get two opinions from retinologists.
