Retna/Cornea Transplant

by nickii23, Oct 14, 2009 04:54PM
Ive had surgeries all my life growing up removing calcium on my right eye, i'm blind i can only see light in it my retna is deteriating and theyve got an artifical oil to keep it up, can i have a retna and cornea transplant to help me see again?

I'm sorry but there is no such thing as a retinal transplant but if your retina is capable of seeing and your cornea is very scarred, a corneal transplant may possibly be an option.  Your situation is very severe since you have silicone in the eye with what sounds like a chronic retinal detachment and low eye pressure perhaps with band keratopathy or calcium deposits on the cornea.  Again, corneal transplants are useful in select cases but there is not such thing as a retinal transplant.
