It is not "Normal", it is much more of a problem with multifocal IOLs than monofocal IOLs. It is much more common with ReZoom IOLs than ReStor and Crystalens. It often goes away or gets better but in some people its permanent. If you consider a IOL exchange consider opting for a aspheric MONOFOCAL IOL.

I, too am extremely disappointed with Restor/Rezoom implants, which I had implanted 6/8 weeks ago.
My Dr. answers my querries with "your brain will figure it out".
I have 'Vaseline vision" in both eyes and cannot see as well as before cataract was removed.
Is this normal and is it possible to remove them and implant something else where my vision is clear?
Thanks,

Dr. Kutryb and I are starting a formal study on multifocal IOLs because it is our impression that the multifocal IOLs cause more complaints on these eye forums than monofocial IOLs. Of the multifocals there is no question that there is MANY MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE REZOOM IOL. I would never consider having one put in my eye, nor would I recommend it to my worse enemy. At a conference here in Kansas City an audience of over 200 surgeons not one raised his/her hand when asked if they would have a ReZoom in one or both eyes.
If you must have an multifocal IOL strongly consider the Crystalens or if you can read with the ReStor then consider a high qualilty monofical IOL like the Tecnis set for distance.
Manybe there's a reason that ReZoom rhymes with DOOM.
