Right eye problem

Right eye problem

Hello, I am 27 years old, overall quite healthy, not taking any medications, don’t drink or smoke. I take my vision very seriously as my job requires computer.  Since age 12, my eyes sees some floaters and wear a near sighted spec (now around -8.0 for both eye).  I don’t wear contact lens at all. I have my eye sight checked every year.

A year ago, I have some problems with my right eye. Comparing to my left eye vision, the brightness is dimmer, color contrast is less vibrant (dull), less vision detail (couldn’t see dust), slower focus reflex, and feels pain when running for only 1 minutes.  Occasionally, in the dark, I could see what appears to be veins/ball of branching lines from my right eye but they would disappear eventually as I fall asleep.  I went to eye specialist in London western eye hospital multiple times and they performed test for glaucoma and optical neuritis, peripheral field vision, and Visual Evoked potential Tests.  However, they could not diagnose any problem and tells me to come back if the condition has worsen.  I went to see another local eye clinic to get second opinion but they also couldn’t see what’s wrong with my right eye. If I see my eyes from the mirror, both eyeballs looks normal without any redness or veins.  My left vision is perfectly fine but the right vision has been the same/maybe slightly worsen for a year now.  Please advise.

Well the good news is that you have already had an extensive workup and nothing abnormal has been found so far.  The main symptom that concerns me is the decreased vision in the one eye but it seems everything turned out normal when actual testing was done.  I'm a bit confused I guess as are you.  If it has not already been done some useful tests would be refraction, corneal topography, color vision testing, visual field test, optical coherance tomography of macula and nerve fiber layer, testing for affarent pupillary defect and MRI of the brain.  Good Luck.
