Risk of retinal detachment again for cataract surgery after a retinal detachment surgery

I had a RD surgery (only a partial RD) 8 months ago and have some cataract developed. According to surgeon, my retina was fully attached a few months ago.
I plan to have a cataract surgery in the near future. I would like to have a rough idea of the risk of RD again after the cataract surgery. I heard that the risk of RD for normal people after the cataract surgery is around 1/500 to 1/1000. Is it much higher for people like me to have the cataract surgery ?
I have a buckle in my eye. Is it safer or more risky compared to those RD patients without the buckle ?

One more time. The risk of RD is higher in a patient with or without PVD than in you assuming you have had a successful scleral buckle.

I have operated on scores of patients with buckles and never had a RD after cataract surgery. But your risk of a RD in your other eye even without cataract surgery is as high as 6-10%.  A truly experienced cataract surgeon will not be fearful of the buckled eye. The unbuckled eye would be at higher risk.

I am looking at cataract surgery in both eyes, one week apart after havingRD in both eyes in 2013.  There were two choices presented to me regarding cataract surgery and am not sure which to choose. Either traditional or laser.  It seems laser is more precise and less cutting but the surgeon felt that with my strong nearsighted eyes, traditional would be better. Any thoughts on this?

I made appointments with 2 cataract surgeon (a few months later). Both scretaries made the appointment for me express some concern on my RD history and told me that the surgeon may eventually don't recommend me to do the surgery (depends on the visit)
Just want to know if there is any difference in terms of risk for cataract surgery for patients with scleral buckle to those only with PPV.

Thanks

Dr. Hagan means that your risk of having a retinal detachment from the cataract surgery is lower than a person having cataract surgery who has not had a retinal detachment before.

The cataract surgery does NOT increase the risk of a RD in your other (non-RD & non-cataract) eye. What does increase your risk is having had a RD in one of your eyes, so the other non-RD eye is at greater risk of having a RD than others who have never had a RD.

Dr Hagan:
Do you mean I am safer to have cataract surgery than people without surgery ?
Is it because I have a buckle ?
Why do the cataract surgery can cause bigger risk of RD to my other eye ?

Thanks

The risk of you having a RD after a buckle is less than a person without a RD having cataract surgery. Just have your retina surgeon look at your retina before and then a week or two after surgery.  A much bigger risk is a RD in your other eye.
