SURGEONS PREFER MONOVISION TO MULTIFOCAL IOLS/ REZOOM DEAD LAST IN USAGE

The January 1 Ophthalmology Times, page 12 "Trends Continue in 2008 ISRS/AAO Survey Results" reports that 49% of eye surgeons recommon monovision or modified monovision (20%) to correct for presbyopia to keep IOL patients least dependent on glasses for a total of 69% up from last year.

For surgeons that recommend multifocal IOLs to correct for presbyopia the recommendations for BEST MULTIFOCAL IOLS were ReStor 14%, Crystalens 12% and in dead last place AMO ReZoom IOL (5%).

Our many discussions confirm what the surgeons indicate in this exhaustive poll. At this time (1/13/09) aspheric IOLs are preferred to multifocal IOLs and the problem beset ReZoom is deal last in satisfaction/surgeon choice.
