Scar after Pterygium surgery

by Avangonz, Jul 03, 2009 12:33AM
I had a pterygium removed with the auto-graft and he stitches, and I have two concerns. First of all, I am having problems with my vision which the doctor says is due to my wearing a patch for several days, and with time it will go back to normal. It has improved but four weeks have past and I am worried. Is this normal? Also, I am noticing that I am getting a scar in my eye, what can I do to help this and why does this happen?

Thank you so much. I also read about the pterygium graft surgery with glue vs. stitches, is it as effective?

there are several techniques for removing a pterygium, none of them is the best, all can give good results in some people. the operation often changes the glasses or contact prescription. You should be on steroid drops to reduce scar formation
