Scar tissue from retinal detachment surgery

Posted By Mickie on May 27, 1999 at 20:53:19
I had surgery for a detached retina four weeks ago.  I went for a check up today and they found scar tissue that the doctor said should be removed.  My questions are:  Is the surgery and recovery time about the same as for a detached retina?  Is it likely that this will occur again? They mentioned using silicone oil instead of gas.  Do you have an opinion on this?  I was so stunned when I found out this information that I walked out of my doctors office without asking any question.  Now, he is on vacation for two weeks.  I am due to go back on June 11th.  Please explain this problem to me if possible.  Thank you, Mickie
