Scleral Buckle & MRI

I had a scleral buckle put in place in 1963 (yes, 47 years ago) due to a retinal detachment caused by trama to the eye.  I'm in need of an MRI to diagnose a hip problem but the radiologist is reluctant to perform the procedure because we don't know the manufacturer and model number of the buckle, and therefore don't know if it's MRI compatible.  Given that the surgery was done 15 years prior to the introduction of MRI use on humans I doubt that the manufacturer info would be of much value, anyway.  Surprisingly, I was able to obtain the record from the surgery (performed at Mass. Eye & Ear) but all it says is that a silicone hatpiece and band were put in place.

Does anyone know of any way to determine if the buckle is MRI safe?

Thanks.

They could take a standard x ray of the orbit to see if metal is seen. Metal use is unlikely   Buckles usually made of silicone not titanium
