If it is shallow but gets infected that can be big problem. If not get infected if it goes through the outer 1/4 (epithelium and Bowman membrane) into the stroma scars often develop.

My son Scratched his eye and from what I saw it went right across his cornea. It looked wide they will fully examine his eye in the morning as he was sleeping and they woke him to quickly examine the damage. How deep does a scratch need to be before it ruins his eye sight? I mean is there a big possibility he will have trouble with his left eye now?
