Severe Dry Eyes

Hi,  I am in search of new contact lenses.  I have severe dry eyes and don't know what to get.  I used to have Acuvue 2 and felt they were too dry, so I my doctor recommended that I switch to Acuvue Oaysis.  These were much worse.  The lense felt like it was a thicker material and immediately sucked all the oxygen out of my eyes. During this period I also started on Restasis and even that doesn't seem to be working. I have Raynaud's disease and think this may have something to do with my dry eyes.  What brand of contact lenses do you think would be best?  Thank you!

I, too, have severe dry eye and found that using daily disposable contact lenses are much more comfortable because they are much thinner and no need for contact solutions which exacerbate dry eye.  I have success with 1-day Acuvue but there is also 1-day Acuvue moist.  You might try that.

Restasis takes up to six months to work.  I have all four puncti plugged using silicone plugs which also helps, and I take fish and faxseed oil every day.

I've found 1-Day Acuvue Moist to be the comfortable contacts I've ever worn.  But the new 1-Day Acuvue TruEye is supposed to be even better.  They are the first silicone hyrdrogel one-day contacts, and they're especially recommended for people with dry eyes.  They're currently available in most of Europe, Asia, and Australia--but not yet in the United States.  We're expected to get them in 2009, so you can keep checking the Acuvue website.

Wouldn't it better to switch to glasses, if you suffer from extreme dry eyes?  And generally dry eyes is a symptom of something.
