Shadows and Ghosting

I am a 37-year-old male and I have just gotten my first pair of glasses.  My left eye is 20/20 but my right eye required correction.  The vision in my right eye has certainly improved immensely but now I notice a shadowing effect when I read words on the printed page or on a billboard, and when I look at a light source it seems to have a ghosting effect.  Both manifest themselves just below and slightly to the left of the "original".  I would have mentioned it to the eye examiner but I wasn't aware of it because of my blurred vision.  What is the cause of this problem?  Should I go back to the doctor to have them "fine-tune" the prescription?  Or is this a symptom of a different eye problem?
