Should I try Retisert for my uveitis?

Should I try Retisert for my uveitis?

I have had uveitis for 21years. I have had 3 vitrectomies, bilat cataract surgerys w/ iol placement, total of 18 methylprednisolone intravitreal injections and 1 kenalog injection. I have been on po prednisone to A MAX AMOUNT OF 160MG A DAY TO CONTROL THE INFLAMATION (inflammation). I have never responded to topical steroids (drops) and it wasn't until I started po prednisone that my vision actually cleared.  I have been to a total of 9 opthamologists over the years, including 2 uveitis specialists at Harvard (the eye and ear infirmary). I have been on methotrexate, cellcept, remicaide iv, and currently Humira (a subcue injection I give myself twice a month).
My retina doc just told me I have +1 cells in both eyes and started me back on po (by mouth) pednisone again. My goal has been to get off this horrible drug as fast as possible and find an alternative. I am legally blind in the right eye. The left eye waxes and wanes depending on the inflamation (inflammation).
I have had a suggestion by Dr Raizman and Dr.Duker in Boston, to try Retisert. I am very reluctant to do this invasive surgery. I beleive I will be one of the 10% that don't respond. I have NEVER  responded to topical steroids , AND I have never responded to intravitreal injections either. Yet these Dr's are constantly saying that this is the only treatment for me. My retinologist states that he beleives this is my only option, but all my history with topical meds says it won't work. I'm very frustated that the docs aren't listening to me. It seems like they want to experiment on me, and don't want to listen to my opinion. I have had this problem for 21years. I know my body.  I am not interested in this very invasive procedure.
I am not uninformed. I have looked up this procedure and med. I have researched the statistics, pros and cons. I have looked at the FDA research. I just don't think this is for me, but maybe I'm too close . Does anyone have an opinion?
                     Thanks, Louise.

You have ultra sevre problems. You have recieve care from some of the best ophthalmologists in the world. No one can make you have this treatment. You can always get another opinion.  The list of the best eye programs in the world (USA) has appeared here in the last 24 hrs. You might try the Wilmer Institute at John Hopkins.
