Silicone oil removal after Retinal Surgery

Silicone oil removal after Retinal Surgery

My mother recent underwent 2 surgeries for retinal detachment. the first one was the gas bubble one and the second one was laser therapy and silicon oil put into the eye. It has been almost 4months after the second operation, her docter says its time to remove the oil from the eye.I want to know if she should risk possible retinal detachment after removing the oil or should she just leave it in? what is the better option? I would really apreciate if someone who's had this condition tell me of their experience.

Use the search feature to read all about silicone oil. Sometimes it comes out and sometimes it stays in forever.
