Son's Vision problems

Son's Vision problems

We have a very frustrating problem that no doctor seems to be able to help us with.
About 1 year ago, my son started seeing "white spots" that would "fly around" in his vision.  They were like little gnats.  He said it was like looking into a microscope and seeing bacteria swimming around in a drop of water.
We took him to an optometrist, who said there was nothing wrong and said we should see an ophthalmologist.  We saw the ophthalmologist who said there was nothing wrong.
About 4 months later, our son started seeing "ghost" images, like halos behind objects.
By this time we had seen a neurologist, who did an MRI and found nothing.  he did try to prescribe Verapamil ER, thinking it might be a circulation issue.  This had no effect.
Now (about 7 months later) our son started seeing trails.  All of these things are happening 24/7.
Finally we saw a Neurological Ophthalmologist.  He found nothing as well.  He did try prescribing Aricept, but again, it didn't seem to help.  Now this doctor says he sees nothing wrong and that we should go BACK to the neurologist.
Now about 1 year later, our son is starting to see light arcs off of objects in brighter lighting areas.
Needless to say, we are all very frustrated.  Our son is worried about going blind...it's life is on hold!!!
Some of his symptoms sound a little like Macular degeneration, but isn't that usually only found in older people and wouldn't these doctors have seen it when they were looking at his eyes?
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions. We are limited, of course by insurance, but we find it so very hard to believe that no can find any problems.  We have a PO can see a specialist if necessary.  It's almost like the doctors don't believe him, but we see how frustrated he gets and we believe that all of this is really happening to him.
Please help...Thanks!!!!

I am sorry but I have nothing to add.  You will have to find a doctor who can diagnosis the problem.
