Spots zooming across eyes

I just had what seemed like 50 little spots, (looked like dots) zooming across my eyes in all different directions.  What can cause this?  I heard that it could be from eating too much sugar.  I had bent over to pick up something and when I stood back up, is when it happened.  Just curious.  It went away in about 3-5 seconds and have not had any more episodes.  Thanks in advance.

It could have been that you had a temporary sharp drop in blood and oxygen perfusion to the visual part of the brain or even the eyes causing a brief, fleeting vision loss episode.  It is also possible that you caused the vitreous gel to move around and stimulate or pull on the retina.  YOu should see an ophthalmologist to at least make sure that you don't have any problems with the retina or vitreous since light flashes in the eye can be an indicator of a retinal detachment.
