Steroid injection after cataract and ECP surgery

Steroid injection after cataract and ECP surgery

Thank you for your previous responses re: cataract and glaucoma surgery at same time.  My doctor injected steroid in my eyes after the surgeries, my IOPs were spiking, and he thought everything would just get better after a few more months.  I changed doctors, they ran all the tests, and peripheral vision is less than perfect in left eye, and nerve in left eye is mildly damaged.  He wants to get steroid out, going to try laser first, then surgery if necessary.  My question: is it widely accepted to inject steroid in the eye after surgery?

Yes it is and such injections are becoming even more common each month. Steroids are powerful medications and they have side effects whereever they are used. In the eye they can cause steroid glaucoma.
