Steroid migration

Steroid migration

The retina specialist put a steroid shot into my left eye, to help reduce the macular edema he said existed.  Non steroid drops did not solve the prolbem.   I cannot see any improvement in the visual waves that were said to have been caused by the edema, and in fact see more distortion since the steroid injection. (apprx. 4 weeks ago)

Can the steroid shot migrate to the other eye?  via the chiasm?  I am concerned that the good eye will se increase in IOP's due to the steroid injection.  The left eye where the steroid was injected already has a trabeculectomy/filtation pipe in it, and pressures are around 12.  The good eye has pressures around 21 or 22, and has been in the upper teens to the low twenties for several years.  No visual field damages.  No acuity change, from 20/20.

Can the steroids invade the other eye globe thru my chiasm system?  Russell903

Thanks for the answer.  I truly appreciate Med Help, since it is difficult to get my retina specialist and glaucoma specialist to interact, or make comments about the other person's area of expertise.  I'm just looking for possible answers, and help to decide if I'm getting what I'm looking for in medical treatments.Russell903
