No it should not effect it. Remeber cortisone cream and ointment up to 0.1% is sold over the counter.

Hereditary yes often, not always.  Steroid creams only if regularly get into your eyes, inhaled steroids NO.  Outlook is good once you go off steroids.

is there anyway of finding out it is the steroid that caused the rise in IOPboth eyes)? As i was initially told by consultant that it was plateau iis that caused acute glaucoma attack. Ihave now seen a glaucoma specialist but he's not convinced it was plateau iris as it is too much of a coincidence that it occured after squint operation(both eyes operated on) and my age(28). He says he didnt see angles before but they look ok now, had had laser iridoplasty on them.He ia wanting to gradually take me off the anti glaucoma drops was on ganforf has now put us on lumigon as my pressure was 11 and 14.Do you think it is safe to do this?
Thanks

Also remember that chronic open angle glaucoma is more common in steroid responders so that when it doesn't go away it usually is not the steroid that caused it but that POAG has developed.

Yes. Usually but I have taken care of a steroid responding man that had elevated IOP for almost a year.
