Steroids and scotoma increase

by russell903, Nov 25, 2008 10:59PM
I was injected with Kenalog more than a month ago, to combat macular edema.  I also have glaucoma in that eye. IOP's remained stable-10 to 12.  Even if pressures are stable, can steroids increase size of glaucoma scotoma?  I am seeing a steady progression of a scotoma in the center of my vision, on a daily basis.  Russell903

The steroid may increase the eye pressure but it sounds that it is not in your case. It will not increase the scotoma. However, your macular edema may be becoming worse. Notify your ophthalmologist ASAP of the change.
