Strong Chronic Pain in/around eye

Hello,
I am new to this community and having seen many helpful answers I felt that it would be beneficial for me to join this forum.
I have a strong pain in and around my right eye which is there all of the time and it feels like it is also extending to the right side of my head. I first had this when I was hit with a snowball a few months ago in my right eye. A few hours after it, my eye felt as though it had come back to normal and that it was only a small incident. However, I gradually developed what feels like a chronic pain in and around my right eye and it is now relatively difficult (requires more effort than my left eye) for me to open my right eyes.
I have managed to see a physician however he does not know exactly what it is and is sending me to do some further tests (an EMG carried out was normal).
Does anybody know what this could be as it is very difficult to live with and I would be most grateful if anybody could provide me with any ideas/experiences.
Thank you.

Thank you for your quick response.
I have had my eyes tested and the doctor states that it is normal since it has no problems with vision (e.g. colour, nearsightedness/farsightedness). To be honest, the main problem I have is with the discomfort/pain experienced in and around the right eye as a result of the injury. Do you have any other ideas as to what the condition could be (e.g. maybe to do with nerves etc) ?
Thank you for you appreciation.

You need to see an EyeMD and have a cycloplegic refraction to see if latent hyperopia is a cause of the problem.
