Stye?

Friday evening, my left eye lid was bothering me. Felt like something was irritated at the base of my eyelashes. Woke up yesterday morning with a swollen eye lid. Still swollen today and eye lid is red. I was thinking that it might be a stye but there is no little bump anywhere on my eyelid. I have been applying warm compresses throughout the day. Think this is a stye forming or something else? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Likely is. See an Eye MD tomorrow for antiobiotic drops or ointment.

Thank you for your response doctor. I was unable to get in to see my eye MD so i went to a clinic doctor on Monday. She prescribed tobramycin drops and diagnosed it as a stye. Hasn't helped at all. Neither has applyIing warm compresses. have read that styes can last many days. My eye is more swollen, red, and painful than ever. The redness is extending out past my eye towards my temple. The underneath of my eye is also swollen now but not red. There is no formed bump on the top of my eyelid. Just wondering how long until this starts to go away. Is a bump going to form and when this does, will relief be soon after? Thanks again for your attention.

I would call your eye MD tomorrow and tell them you consider this an Emergency. Most Eye MDs will not refuse an emergency request. You may need to wait longer but with the long holiday (at least in the USA) coming up it needs to be checked. I am concerned from your description that you could be having a reaction to tobramycin or that there could be something that needs drained of pus and finally to be sure you are not getting an tissue infection (cellulitis) that may require oral antibiotics.

Tell them just what you told me and I think they will do a work in OR if there are other Eye MDs in the practice that can see you see one of them
