Sudden Astigmatism

Sudden Astigmatism

I have had 3 eye tests this year. The first 2 were very similar but the last one I had done (only 2 weeks after the one before) showed I had developed astigmatism -1.50 in rhe R eye and -0.75 in the L eye. No one else in my family has this and I have no other known health problems. I'm 34 and was wearing contact lenses until approx 6 weeks ago when I began experiencing red eyes, sharp eye pain and sensitivity to light. These symptoms have eased since I stopped using lenses but I'm concerned in the sudden change in prescription and my optician has not been able to explain it. I would appreciate any help you could give, many thanks

Even at 6 weeks the astimatism may be due to the contacts and can take as long as 3-6 months to go away. Even if it's "real" astimatism is not a disease, is just non-spherical cornea and can develop on its own.
