Sudden Eyelid Swelling - irritation, no rash

This is similar to other questions except my swelling was sudden.  Yesterday all was normal until about 2pm.  At this time my eyelid, up by my brow, started to feel irritated.  In my mind it seemed like it should have been puffy, but I couldn't notice any tenderness or swelling to the touch.  I am a teacher and had to wait until 2:45 before I could get to a mirror.  When I got to the mirror the area around the brow looked fine, buy my top eyelid was swollen a little near the inside of the eye.
I immediately came home to take out my contacts, remove my make-up, and put on glasses.  My husband didn't notice any swelling until I pointed it out.  I soaked a towel in ice water and kept the eye covered with that most of the evening.  The area was tender to the touch and felt weird when squeezed my eye shut or tried opening it wide.  Before going to bed I flushed my eye 4 or 5 times with contact solution (Opti-free) and I went to bed with the cold towel covering my eye.
This morning the whole lower half of my left eye is swollen making it apprear about 1/3 smaller than the right eye.  There is no usual definition where the brow bone (don't know the technical name) is located because of the lower swelling.  My eye is not red. There are no visible rashes. I don't believe it is itchy other than the fact that I can feel the swollen lid and that irritates me to the point that I want to touch it.
I have a very busy schedule this weekend and won't be able to make it to an eye doctor before Monday (today is Friday).  Is there anything I should or shouldn't do in the next 3-4 day that could possibly solve the problem or at least decrease the symptoms before going to a doctor?

Leave your contact lens out, use cool compresses. Call your "eye doctor" and ask for further advice.
