Sudden Sharp Eye Pain

Threee times in the past week or so, I've gotten a sudden sharp pain in my left eye. It feel like a needle going right through and it only lasts a second. Right after it happens my eye completely tears up and then it's over. What the heck could this mean? Is it serious?

Ah, important piece of information. And a good piece of information. You need to be under the care of an Eye MD with a complete baseline glaucoma work up (visual fields, optic nerve OCT, central corneal thickness, stereo optic nerve photos, gonioscopy, eye pressure measurements. Small chance that your pain might be related to PDS.

I left out some information about myself that might be important. I'm a 29 year old female and wear glasses for distance only and on rare occasions, contact lenses. I was last at an eye doctor about a year ago. I was told I had pigment dispersion syndrome but that it wasn't causing me any problems. It was recommended I have my pressure checked yearly.

Often a cornea problem. See an Eye MD. Find one at www.aao.org
