Swollen left eye bag, pain when blinking, slightly reddish

Yesterday afternoon, I felt the area right below my left eye bag was feeling pain, something similar to a tiny muscle cramp ? Today, it's swollen, and my parents want me to see a doctor soon because they fear it's contagious. want to get a heads up if it's something minor. Heard from someone it could be an inflamed chalazion. is the hot weather the cause ? or food allergies I know not off?  the pain is not extreme but it is annoying and to the point that, the swelling kinda exerts some noticeable pressure on the eyeball. Thanks a bunch in advanced

Can I have at least a more practical advise like a home remedy ? or should I just leave it alone and it'll go away after a few days ?
