Temporary Flashing Lights

by stromberg70, Aug 28, 2009 10:06AM
I've been experiencing some flashing lights in my left peripheral vision lately.  The flashing comes and lasts for about 15 minutes, and it only happens about once every 2 weeks (not always that often).  I rub my eye and it appears as if there is a slight discharge of tears.  I don't know whether this discharge is the result of simply rubbing or if it is due to a build up of moisture.  Regardless, the lights tend to go away after the discharge of tears.  My right eye is completely fine.  Do I need to worry about this?  I have reading glasses with a very slight correction, but my vision is fine otherwise.

Thanks for your time.

Yes, you should be concerned.  See an ophthalmologist.
