It won't happy, the sun damages and ages not only the skin but the surface of the eye. At least stop the damage and wear a hat, sunglasses, sun block on your skin and stay out of the sun to the extent you can. Use artifical tears because many of these eyes are dry also. See an ophthalmologist to be sure you do not have any other problem such as blepharitis that might make your eyes red.

Yes the eye does scar. If this is normal pigmentation then removal is cosmetic and your insurance won't pay for it. Moreover most eye surgeons are not going to removed this benign spots as they are extremely common

Hi Dr. Hagan,

I am interested in getting the pigment line in the white part of my eye removed. I wanted to know if stiching would decrease the chance of scarring? Also, when the procedure is completed, if the eye scars what color does it scar? Do u have any pictures to show before and after results of the surgery? Thank you for your help. I want to be as informed as possible about the procedure before actually doing it.

Could be a freckle could be something to worry about. See an Eye MD ophthalmologist. In USA find one at www.aao.org
