Toddler high Farsighted

My son will turn 5 years in December. He is diagnosed with high farsightedness (+6.5). We didn't see any symptoms earlier. Recently we observed that he was reading books by holding it very close to his eyes. The Opt. Doctor is saying he has to use glasses for his lifetime. We don't have any history of farsightedness. I would like to know what are the complications involved in his case. I really appreciate any help in this matter.

Your child should be under the care of a Eye MD ophthalmologist, ideally a pediatric Eye MD.

If you see an optometrist get to an Eye MD your child deserves the best.

If your child is undeer the care of an Eye MD and that is his RX +6.5 he definitely needs glasses to be worn all the times. He likely will need glasses or contacts all his life. HAVE ALL YOUR CHILDREN CHECKED FOR THIS AS IT RUNS IN FAMILYS.

Failure to wear glasses may cause crossed eyes, poor vision in one eye (amblyopia) and poor reading/school skills.
