Toddler very farsighted, Do they need glasses?

Toddler very farsighted, Do they need glasses?

The pediatric opthamologist said my son is +7.50 in each eye, and prescribed glasses with +6.00 lenses. I took my son for a second opinion, and the second opthamologist said that although he is farsighted, his eyes are perfectly aligned so he does not recommend that my son get glasses, unless I see his eyes start to cross. He explained the children are very resourceful and use other mechanisms in their eyes to help them see, even though they are farsighted. The first doctor told me "If this was my child, I would get him glasses immediately" and the second doctor said "If it was my child I would wait, and not give him glasses yet". I am very confused, because if my son is not seeing clearly, I want to give him glasses, but If he is seeing clearly, then I suppose I could wait.
Any advice?

Dear nymom1,

I would take the advice of the pediatric ophthalmologist who treats children with strabismus, or a lazy eye. It is possible that a lazy eye or alignment issue can develop with farsighted toddlers.
