Toric vs Progressive Glasses

I am 74 yrs and have cataract on both eyes. I also have 2.5 D stingmatism in both eyes for more than 10yrs and wearing glasses for more than 50 yrs.

I met with two eye doctors and have little differant of opions - stingmatism correction either by Toric or glasses.

Since I am wearing glasses for more than 50 yrs. I like to have standard monofacal IOL and progressive glasses correcting stingmatism. The reasons are:

1 Toric need to place at correct angle and may cause problem.

2 There is need to wear glasses for reading or sight upto 3-5 feet. This means that when I drive car I nedd glasses for looking inti odometer, stearring and desh board control buttons and not for far road signs etc. This is very very inconviencey.

3 I don't see any great advantage for have Toric IOL except that you will not wear glasses 95% time.

Am I right and making right decision.

You are right and you and no one else is making the decision about your eyes and your IOLs.

It's really pretty simple. If you don't care about uncorrected vision, don't mind glasses and want to save some money get the regular aspheric monofocal IOL.

If not then get the toric.
