No cataracts are the leading world wide cause of CORRECTABLE BLINDNESS.  That is completely different that UNCORRECTABLE BLINDNESS that often occurs due to glaucoma or proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

Thank you Doctor.  This site has been a great source of information and comfort.  The reason for my question is that surgery is just not an option for me right now.  I have checked all the (financial) resources and it isn't going to happen for me any time soon.  That is a fact.  I sort of wanted to know if I should be preparing for total blindness.  I'm pretty sure my job will soon discover that I can't see well enough to function at my job.  Health insurance takes effect in April 08 if I don't get terminated.

Thank you,

Joni

I am so happy you are not sitting around worried about total blindness. It's just like washing a window. You window will just be a little dirtier when washed. Besides April 08 is just around the corner.
