Using Pilocarpine to constrict the pupil

I had a  retinal detachment surgery 2 months ago. I stopped the atropine for more than 4 weeks. My pupil is still very dilated. One of the possible solutions is to use a medication called Pilocarpine (for let say 2 weeks) to constrict the pupil. I am sure will the pupil still dilated after the medication is stopped.

Has anyone encountered this problem and would please share with me your experience ?
Thanks

Wilson

I saw from other Forum that Alaphagan may also be used to constrict pupil. Is it true ? Does it have less side effect ? If yes, does it mean that it can be used for longer time period.
Thanks

I tried 1% one drop and it worked way too much, it constrict my pupil to 1mm and last for 24 hrs. I am planning to try either 0.5% or 0.25%. If it works, how long do you think I can use it safely for 1 drop per day

Thanks

lower % are best tolerated. Works better of  light colored eyes. Usually 0.5% or 1%

Dr Hagan:
Thanks for your advice. I talked to my surgeon. He also warned that the there is some risk of retinal detachment. He gave me the prescription to try 2 weeks and mentioned if it doesn't work stop it.
I just want to see if anyone has tried that. If it is not going work, I don't want to take risk.

Pilocarpine increases the risk of retinal detachment. Discuss with your surgeon. I doubt he/she will be willing tolet you use it.
