Vertical diplopia help!

Vertical diplopia help!

So 2 years ago  (sept 2008 ) I noticed that I had vertical double vision, just before that I was given glasses to wear for TV/Reading. Now two years on I have to wear my glasses none stop for short sightedness.

I had a CAT-scan on head in 2007 ( normal )
Then an MRI on head in 2010 ( normal )

But the double vision has gotten worse, none stop now even with a fresnel prism on one of my lenses.

None of the opthamologists or doctors I have seen seem to know, I am currently waiting for another referral.

According to my opthamologist I see regularly, when I look up I have a slight weakness in my eyes.

Did the scans over look something? Am I going blind? Is it just a muscle problem? I am only 22-F

Is there anything I can do to help

Dear Mizzum,

I would recommend that you speak with your eyeMD and have your questions answered. It sounds as if you have two issues, one a muscle imbalance responsible for the double vision and the second, nearsightedness.

A general ophthalmologist may not be sufficiently  knowledgeable about an eye muscle imbalance.  See an ophthalmologist who specializes in strabismus.  You can find one using the doctor directory at www.aao.org.
