Vision Problem - Ambyopia

Hi, i'm 32 years old at present and doctor says I have left eye ambyopic. I first found out of the disease (or disorder) when i was in college. My eye grade that time is 800 (i can only see double E with it). Now with my recent eye checkup my eye grade is 1600 (but all i see are colored shadows).  Still the doctor encourage me to wear contact lens (300-for gradual adaptation) over my left eye.

My question is, is there still hope for my left eye to recover, well not completely (of course) as the doctor claim?

No its not at all likely that the contact would help the eye much.

I suggest you see a Eye MD ophthalmologist that does cornea and refractive surgery. Some times its possible to do lasik on the lazy eye and correct mypopia and astigmatism and make meaningful improvements (not to good vision though). Often insurance covers this.

Be sure you know the chance of your children, grandchildrfen, nieces and nephews having thtis problem is 20% and they all need to see an Eye MD about age 2 to 3.
