Vision Worse after Cataract Surgery

My 85-year-old father had cataract surgery on his right eye on 2/4/10, 3 weeks ago.  The attending optometrist seems surprised that my father's vision in that eye has not improved and is still so blurry.  The dr. has had him using several eyedrops (both steroid and nonsteroid) for possible inflammation, as well as drops for dry eye.  My father says his sight in that eye seems to be not as good as before the surgery.  How long can it take for the eye to recover to its fullest?  Could posterior capsule opacity be the problem, or does that only develop over time?  I do not know the type of surgical procedure or type of lens implanted.  His next appt is March 8, ~30 days post-surgery, and I plan to go with him.  What questions should I ask--what action should we take?  Is there some kind of testing that can be done to see if the lens is seated correctly, or if it's the right strength, or if there are other problems within his eye?  Do we need a 2nd opinion yet?

In my opinion your father should NOT be under the care of an optometrist for post operative care especially if something is going wrong. You pay not only for the surgeon to do surgery but to provide post operative care. INSIST on seeing the surgeon
