Vision flickering

Vision flickering

For the past couple of days I have experienced vision flickering, it looks like when lights bulbs slightly flicker In a room, which is what I thought it was at first however it is happening wherever I go. It happens sporadically and lasts only for a split second. I have had numerous eye exams in the past 3 months due to various visual disturbances (black spots, distorted central vision, words move when reading, different colour perception in each eye, unable to focus vision, visual snow) however everything was normal. I have only just had my glasses prescription change and new glasses which changed twice in a couple of months.

Other issues include the fact that for several years I have experienced a bright zig zag line in central vision ( looks like a scar) this is static and is permanently there. this affects only my right eye.

Firstly do you think there is a need to go back to the doctor, secondly are these issues a cause for concern? Are these symptoms suggestive of anything particular? I am 24 with a family history of kerataconus.

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

You should go see a retina specialist as the flashes of light may represent traction on your retina from the jelly substance in the eye.  This can lead to a retinal tear and periodic exams as long as the symptoms are going on are a good idea.  The retina specialist can also see about the scar shaped line in your vision.
