Vision for reading blurred, colour confusion & back taurma

I have been going to the hospital to get my eyes sorted because over the last couple of years printed words on white paper have been blurred for me and I have had enormous difficulty telling the difference between blues/greens and reds/oranges when I am designing or painting; sometimes words just completely disappear (when shopping I don't see the words  on food labels). When I read back large print it gets jumbled up, especially numbers and I feel like the muscles at the back of the eyes are having to work hard to focus sometimes.
They say my eyes are healthy just that I have a squint (since I was a kid). But they can't explain and instead I find myself up against being told have a "lot of little symptoms"  and that I am suffering from depression. Until recently my GP was saying "you're depressed take thee pills". The a new GP came into the practice for a few months got an MRI done on my back which shows significant deterioration due to trauma and says that my symptoms match the complications from my back & that the pain I feel is real not depression.
But that still leaves me with difficulty reading and not being able to tell the difference between the above colors and meds who are very keen to say "depression" and then refuse to treat the problem itself...
What are your thoughts?

You need a baseline eye exam by an Eye MD ophthalmologist.

perhaps if you had taken the time to actually read what I wrote you would have seen I already have had a baseline exam.

I don't know about the problem with colors, but the trouble you're having with focusing on letters/numbers, etc. sounds to me like you're starting to experience simple presbyopia, which frequently starts in the late 30's (it did for me) and early 40's.  That may be an oversimplification, and I'm not sure how your back pain relates, if at all.  However, presbyopia simply comes with age and is easily treated with progressive eyglasses or bifocals.  Just a thought.  Good luck, and please tell us how everything turns out.
